BACKGROUND In addition to their psychotherapy practices, Eleanore Feldman, MSW, LCSW and Chris Johnson, PsyD co-led Mindfulness Meditation classes, workshops and retreats in the Chicago suburbs for more than five years. The curriculum for A Mindful Course is based on more than 30 years of research from The Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. The Center serves as an umbrella organization for the Stress Reduction Program founded by renowned author Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in 1979. Both organizations are dedicated to the integration of mindfulness meditation practices into the mainstream of medicine and health care, as well as into other areas of society (such as education, corporate leadership, the workplace, criminal justice and sports). Eleanore relocated to Los Angeles in 2005 where she has re-established her psychotherapy practice and resumed teaching A Mindful Course. She works with individuals, couples, families and groups and has a special interest in attachment and relational difficulties particularly with the coexistence of a trauma history. Eleanore's classes and groups untilize mindfulness practices developed from her training in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli. She has adapted A Mindful Course for use with unique concerns: parents in a school setting and a prison population. Chris Johnson, PsyD., has a broad background ranging from psychotherapy with trauma survivors to couples in crisis to coaching managers and corporate executives around balance and meaning. Chris, too, participated in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care and Society and continues to teach in Oak Brook, IL. In her work at Q4Consulting Chris incorporates mindfulness practices into customized training and coaching in the workplace. She also teaches A Mindful Course each quarter in Oak Brook, a suburb just west of Chicago, with the intention to share the powerful impact of integrating mindfulness pracitce in our daily lives.
